Reserving the Meeting House

Thank you for your interest in the Newtown Meeting House.  The building is owned by the Town of Newtown and maintained, managed and supported by the Heritage Preservation Trust, Inc., a 501©(3) charitable corporation.  It is not affiliated with any religious organization.

We host both religious and civil wedding ceremonies, seat 20-196 on the main level, and 50 in the balcony.  The balcony is also home to our 1914 pipe organ, which has been completely restored.  Other musicians may also use the balcony.  We have a new Yamaha concert grand piano on the main level of the sanctuary.

If you wish to use our musical instruments, we require that you select one of our organists/pianists on the Links page of our web site.

If you prefer a string trio, electronic keyboard instrument, etc., you may bring those musicians into the Meeting House privately.

The Meeting House is comfortable all year—heated during the winter and air-conditioned in the summer.

We work with a contract. In order to reserve your date and time, we need a signed contract and your check, in amount of $850, payable to HERITAGE PRESERVATION TRUST, INC.

For your convenience, we accept personal checks, as well as Visa and MasterCard through PayPal.

Please use the mailing address at the bottom of the contract—no mail is received at 31 Main St.  Our receipt of a signed contract and full payment guarantees your reservation, and a receipted copy of the contract will be returned for your records.

Please be aware that the reservation fee is non-refundable

We also require a $200 REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT, 30 days before the ceremony.  This security deposit will come back to you within 30 days after your ceremony date, if you leave the building in good order.  This does not mean that you are required to clean; it is meant to off-set any damage which may occur.

Reservations may be made for any date/time which is open when you enquire.  Morning, afternoon or evening ceremonies may be scheduled Monday through Saturday.   Due to regular commitments at the Meeting House on Sunday, only afternoon ceremonies may be arranged on that day.

Information on officiants, florists, photographers, videographers, limousine services, etc. is available from the menu above.. We can recommend anyone listed on our site because they work frequently at the Meeting House.  There is no financial arrangement between the Meeting House and anyone listed on our site. Arrangements for services other than rental of the building are made, by the couple, with individual vendors.

If you require more information or would like to visit the Meeting House in person, please call for an appointment.

We look forward to helping make your ceremony memorable.

Reserve and/or pay through PayPal - remember you must sign and return a contract  to the Meeting House for your reservation to be secured.
